Rare Aztec/Mayan Sterling Silver Calendar Pendant. in Bakersfield, California For Sale
Rare Aztec/Mayan Sterling Silver Calendar Pendant.
You can see these calendar pendants all over the
internet from 20 dollars to 200 dollars.
This one is $100 due to its age and patina.
Most of them are new. Most are machine stamped.
The skill to produce a hand carved one like this is
fast disappearing all over the world.
This one is stamped with the Mexican governments
eagle with the number 83 inside the stamp.
In xxxx (some say xxxx) The Mexican government
required the Eagle stamp as proof it was Mexican
made and that it was genuine Mexican silver. They
stopped using the eagle stamp in xxxx.
So we know this piece was made sometime between
xxxx/48 and xxxx.
It has a wonderful half century old patina on it, and
the 30 inch long 925 chain. 925 is the designation
for sterling silver. Or 92.5% pure silver. Any higher
content of silver results in rapid wear and easily
deformed jewelry. Pendant AND the chain are 925.
Is half a century old, so if you buy this piece, do NOT
clean it. Taking this beautiful rich old patina off,
will seriously reduce the collectible value of the
piece. The patina is its bona fides.
Sorry about the pictures. I took them with my cheap little
digital camera. :o
) Peace. Nothing but peace.
